The Hollies has been operating under the current proprietors since December 1989 although it first opened as a care home in 1986. Prior to this The Hollies was a private residence and was once the home of the Robinson family, the founders of the Wakefield Express. Subsequently the house was owned by the Church and according to the local community at least two Bishops have lived here?
John Allott, proprietor, became Registered Manager in 1989 and ten years later was followed by Angeline Richardson who is the current Care Manager.
Angeline has many years' experience working alongside elderly people within a residential care setting. She has the day to day responsibility for running the home, including co-ordinating the work of approximately 30 staff. Angeline has an NVQ Level 4 in care management and Registered Manager Award. She is also an NVQ Assessor. NVQ accreditation is an important priority in the home.
The emphasis at The Hollies is to have a satisfied and happy staff team who in turn will provide a first-class service to our residents. We see stability and continuity amongst the staff as of paramount importance, and on a management level this is represented by the fact that John Allott remains actively involved with the home in the role of Operations Manager.
John's previous work background was with Wakefield Social Services Department and he has social work and management qualifications.
